On the occasion of International Day of the Support to Victims of Torture, Youth Initiative for Human Rights in Serbia, will present the report "Rights of Persons Deprived of Liberty in the Prison System in Serbia".
Presentation of the Report will take place at the premises of the EU Info Center (Kralja Milana 7 Street), at 12:00h.
The Report has been developed in the frame of the Project "Building Free of Torture and Impunity Societies at the Wester Balkan" and contains findings about the situation of convicted persons in 14 prison institutions during 19 visits, organized by the YIHR monitoring team during the last two years.
Besides findings of 14 visited prison institutions, the report has analysis of changes of legal regulations for the system of execution of criminal sanctions, and recommendations for improvement of human rights situation in prisons in Serbia.
Besides YIHR SER, the project "Building Free of Torture and Impunity Societies in Western Balkan", implemented partner organizations Youth Initiative for Human Rights in Montenegro (member of Civic Alliance), Center for Rehabilitation from Trauma and Torture in Albania (ARCT) and International Council for Rehabilitation of Victims of Torture from Denmark (IRCT). Goal of the project is to contribute to the society without torture through activities of civil society, directed against abuse and other cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment or punishing.
